Dr. Sherry Truffin is originally from Cleveland, Ohio, and earned her B.A. from Baldwin-Wallace University, her M.A. from Cleveland State University, and her Ph.D. from Loyola University Chicago, all in the field of English. She joined Campbell University’s English Department in 2011 after teaching at colleges and universities in Georgia, Illinois, and Ohio.

Her scholarly interests include contemporary American fiction, Gothic literature, and women’s literature. In addition to teaching courses on various literary topics, she has also taught classes in Rhetoric and Persuasion, Technical Writing, Editing, and the History of the English Language.

Her publications include the book Schoolhouse Gothic and scholarly articles on Edgar Allan Poe, James Baldwin, Joyce Carol Oates, Donna Tartt, Stephen King, Brett Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, the literature of New Orleans, the television show The X-Files, and intersections between literature and popular music.
